Born and raised in Oxnard, her best friend Homer played classical piano, so she’d secretly (and clumsily) practice the same Chopin and Rachmaninoff études. She‘d always loved acting and when college came around, Jacque realized she was able to combine both acting and classical music in Opera. Fast forward a decade or so of college degrees, classical singing competitions, international performances, and a Broadway National Tour, she’s finally back home and pursuing a career in tv/film. She’s working with the luminescent Christinna Chauncey in her On Camera Intensive/Ongoing class, and still singing when she can!
While an undergrad at Cal Lutheran University, Jacquelynne performed the lead in several classical theater plays (Antigone, Blood Wedding) and studied classical singing, graduating with a BA in Music. She went to the USC Thornton School of Music for her Masters in Music, completing two years of doctoral studies. While at USC, she performed the lead in several operas (Don Giovanni, Summer and Smoke, Idomeneo), co-directed the USC Chamber Opera, and taught a children’s choir and music lessons to local elementary schools (yay kids!). During this time, she took a year off to serve as Miss California 2006 and compete in the Miss America 2007 pageant, placing in the top ten and winning the talent award! She loves gorgeous dresses, thank you, Pinterest.
After school, she moved to NYC and pursued a career in opera and musical theater. She performed in Italy with the Tuscia Operafestival, and in the Pacific Northwest in two of her favorite roles; Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, and Violetta in La Traviata. She was a western regional finalist with the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, a winner of the Zachary National Singing Competition, and winner of the Palm Springs, NATS, Rio Hondo, and Burbank classical singing competitions. In musical theater, she performed Anna in The King & I with Opera North, Elsa in The Sound of Music with North Shore Musical Theatre (Best Supporting Actress IRNE Nomination), Charlotte in A Little Night Music with the Indiana Repertory Theatre, and the Ragazza in A Room with a View at The Old Globe in San Diego.
Most recently, for three years and over one thousand performances (yeehaw!), Jacquelynne stared as the Italian Prima Donna Carlotta in the Broadway National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera. You might have seen her if you saw the show- she was hard to miss, entering with a 40lb gold and red dress, carrying a severed head and singing a couple high D’s!
She spends her free time teaching singing, attempting salsa and swing dance, yoga, playing the piano, and lovin’ on her 14 lb Havanese puppy, Pearl.
